Obituary of Anita Hilda Neugebauer
Parkston – Anita Hilda Neugebauer, 96, went to her heavenly home Sunday, September 9 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 12 at 10:30 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 11 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Faith Lutheran Church in Parkston. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.
Anita was born April 22, 1922 to Oswald and Bertha (Olawsky) Geidel in Douglas County. She was baptized on May 21, 1922 and confirmed on July 5, 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Dimock. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school near there. On February 8, 1948, she married Albert Neugebauer at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Together they farmed west of Dimock until retiring and moving to Parkston in 1970. At this time, they also became members of Faith Lutheran Church. Anita was an excellent seamstress, volunteering for various sewing projects and serving on the Altar Guild. She entered Avera Assisted Living in Parkston in March, 2007. During this time, she enjoyed reading, daily devotions and word search puzzles. Anita centered her life around her faith and her family, cherishing every moment spent with them. She was loving and caring to everyone. Her kind hearted spirit will be forever treasured.
Grateful for having shared her life are her 3 daughters: Marilyn (Darrell) Mueller of Mt. Vernon; Sharon (Ray) Stern of Mitchell; and Jeanette (Jim) Zens of Alexandria; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Reimnitz of Mitchell; a brother, Herbert (Margaret) Geidel of Parkston; a special niece, Bev (Charlie) Hoenke of Parkston; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert in 1984; an infant son; parents; 2 sisters, Erna Geidel and Alvina Neugebauer; a brother, Elmer Geidel; mother and father-in-law, 11 brothers-in-law; and 10 sisters-in-law.
