Obituary of Ruth June Wiese-Knuth

   Armour - Ruth June Wiese-Knuth, 98, died at Armour Care and Rehabilitation Center in Armour on Thursday, March 9, 2018. Funeral service will be Monday, March 12, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour with burial following in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour. Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 5 - 7 PM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Hom in Armour.

   Ruth June, or June, as she was always known by, was born in Luverne, MN on June 23, 1919 to Hans and Mayme Baustian. She grew up in Garretson, SD with four siblings. She graduated from Garretson High School in 1937. In 1938 she married Raymond Wiese in Pipestone, MN. Two sons, Stephen and Carter, were born to this marriage. After Ray was discharged from the Army they lived in Pipestone, moving to Flandreau, SD in 1950 where they owned an early "C-store". After 1957 they lived in several towns in Minnesota. June worked at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities for over 15 years.

   Ray died in 1985. June married Lawrence Honerman in 1986 and after his death in 1991 she married Fred Knuth, who died in 2006. June moved to Armour in 2008. She first lived in the Town Square Apts, then the Prairie Villa. In 2015, because of sight loss due to macular degeneration, she moved to the Armour Care and Rehabilitation Center. She died there March 8, 2018 at the age of 98.

   June loved to dance, sing and walk. Her favorite activity at the Home was singing with the piano players who came to entertain. She knew every song. Her other joy was buying and wearing hats. She kept saying "hats are coming backing in style". Due to her blindness she was not able to do so many things she once enjoyed, but never complained about her situation.

   She was preceded by her three husbands and sisters Wayva Thompson, Hazel Davis and Orva Baustian.

   She is survived by her sons Stephen and wife, Rosanne; Carter and wife, Sharon; grandsons Collier (Dawn) Wiese and Randy Wiese; granddaughters Jennifer (Steve) Sonnen and Stephanie Palmer; great-grandsons Christopher (Joelle) Hatfield, Alexander Wiese and Alek Palmer; brother Don Baustian and wife Pat; and several nieces and nephews.
