Obituary of Roann G. Rus

   Stickney - Roann G. Rus, 68, died at Good Samaritan Society in Corsica on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Funeral service will be at Christian Reformed Church in New Holland on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM with burial following in New Holland Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 5 - 7 PM at Christian Reformed Church in New Holland with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Stickney.

   Roann G. Rus was born on January 25, 1950 to Robert and Minnie (Veurink) VanZee in Platte, SD. She attended Dakota Christian School, then worked on the family farm. On September 14, 1970 she married Lerry Rus in the Dakota Christian School Gym. She lived in Mitchell for a short time, then moved to Stickney. She worked at the nursing home in Corsica and Stickney School as a cook, did daycare, managed the assisted living in Stickney, and the Coffee Cup near Plankinton. Roann enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting, sewing, puzzles, games on the computer, was a great cook, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She died at Good Samaritan Society in Corsica on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the age of 68.

   She is survived by 5 children, Brenda (Terry) Anthony of Stickney, SD, Connie (Randall) Kuyper of Stickney, SD, Mike (fiancée, Amy) Rus of Mt. Vernon, SD, Carla (Darren) Hohn of Mitchell, SD and Nathan Rus of Corsica, SD, sister, Patsy (Hubert) Iedema of Platte, SD, 3 brothers, Larry VanZee of New Holland, SD, Terry (Deb) VanZee of New Holland, SD, and Bruce (Jody) VanZee of Joubert, SD, 14 grandchildren, Tyler, Aaron, MaKenzie and Bailey Anthony, Tory (John) Mohnen, Whitney (Ryan) Patnoe, Brianna (Nick) Blom, Alissa Kuyper, Reed and Reagan Rus, Cole and Levi Waldhauser, and Emma and Austin Hohn, and 2 great-grandchildren, Gage Mohnen and Grayson Blom.

   She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters-in-law, Roxanne VanZee and Lois VanZee.
