Obituary of Henry "Hank" Rus

Corsica – Henry “Hank” Rus, 77, died Saturday, October 14 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.  Visitation will be Wednesday, October 18 from 5 to 7 pm at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.  A private, family service will be held at a later time.   

Henry was born June 18, 1946 to John L. and Henrietta (Van Voorst) Rus on the family farm near Corsica, SD.  He grew up on the farm and attended country school near there through the 8th grade.  He worked for the Sale Barn, Vanden Hoek Construction, and Van’s Service.  He was united in marriage to Marcia Bolt on September 10, 1969 in New Holland, SD.  The couple moved to the Rus family farm where they made their home, farmed and raised their 3 children, Shawn, Chad and Richaille.

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Marcia of Corsica; 3 children:  Shawn (Roxy) Rus of Dell Rapids, SD; Chad Rus of Corsica; and Richaille (Derek) Smith of Faucett, MO; 6 grandchildren:  Samantha (Joe), Jager, Gabriella, Deziree, Ryleigh, and Emersyn; 4 great-grandchildren:  Wesley, Lane, Hadley, and Rhett; and 4 siblings:  Arlene Vanden Hoek of Plankinton, SD; Jack Rus and friend, Cheryl of Corsica; Shirley Van Voorst and friend, Arlyn of Rock Valley, IA; and Arnie (Wanda) Rus of Chamberlain, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jeanette (Marlin) Johnson; a brother, Lerry Rus; and 2 brothers-in-law, John Van Voorst and Norman Vanden Hoek.
