Obituary of Dan August Schumacher

Stickney – Dan August Schumacher, 56, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, October 17.  Memorial mass will be Saturday, October 21 at 9:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stickney.  Visitation will be Friday, October 20 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stickney.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Stickney.

Dan was born July 14, 1961 to Robert and Florence (Wantoch) Schumacher in Mitchell, SD.  He attended Aurora Center School and Stickney High School, graduating in 1979. After graduation, he worked in construction for several years, and then started farming after the passing of his father.  He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing.  He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the NRA and Pheasants Forever.

Grateful for having shared his life are his son, August Schumacher of Stickney; mother, Florence Hughes of Stickney; 5 siblings:  Cindi (Gary) Umberger of Randolph, NE; Greg (Sherry) Schumacher of Stickney; Marie (Tom) Guenthner of Stickney; Rita (David) Beckman of Stickney; and Joe Schumacher of Stickney; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Schumacher; a sister, Laurie Schumacher; and his grandparents, Henry and Ellen Schumacher and August and Agnes Wantoch.
