Obituary of Delores Meta Wudel

Parkston – Delores Meta Wudel, 95, went to her heavenly home Friday, March 3 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston.  Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 8 at 10:00 am at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston.  Visitation will be Tuesday, March 7 from 5 to 6 pm at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Delores Meta (Kurtz)  Wudel was born March 13, 1927 to Gust and Emma (Bietz) Kurtz.  She was baptized on March 27, 1927 at Dannewitz Lutheran Church and confirmed on April 6, 1941 by Reverend J. Schmitt.  She was united in marriage to Enos Wudel on October 23, 1952 at Dannewitz Lutheran Church by Reverend Hummel.  They resided on a farm south of Parkston until their retirement in 1990 when they moved into Parkston.  She was an avid, long time member of Salem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, sang in the choir, and quilted for 32 years.  She was also very active in Meals on Wheels.  Delores went to her heavenly home Friday, March 3, 2023 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston at the age of 95.
     
Grateful for having shared her life are her 5 sons:  Tom (Marsha) Wudel of Parkston; John Wudel of Sioux Falls; Mike (Susan) Wudel of Naples, FL; Dan (Jan) Wudel of Sioux Falls; and Mark Wudel of Parkston; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis (Dee) Kurtz; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Enos on March 19, 2003; a sister, Lucille Olson; a brother-in-law, Paul and nieces, Janet and Sue.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Salem Lutheran Church in Delores's name.
