Obituary of Larry Bowers

Armour - Larry Bowers, 86, went to his heavenly father on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 at Armour Care and Rehabilitation Center in Armour.  Visitation is Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 5:30 - 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Redeemer Lutheran Church in Armour.  Funeral services at 10:30 AM Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church.  Burial will be at a later date at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.  

Larry Bowers was born November 14th, 1930 to Thomas and Arlene (Johnson) Bowers in Bristow, NE.  He grew up and attended school in Bristow and then when old enough he started driving truck for his dad.  Larry married Ladonna Johnson on December 31st, 1949.  Larry started his own trucking business in 1956 and ran it successfully for 60 years.  The family moved to Armour in 1964.  Ladonna passed away in 1997.  Larry married Nancy Gartner on December 12th, 2003.  Larry retired in 2016 and turned the business over to his children. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Armour and South Dakota Truckers Association. He went to his heavenly father on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 at Armour Care and Rehabilitation Center in Armour at the age of 86.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, Armour, daughter Pam (Boyd) Conzemius, Pierre, SD, two sons Larry (Beverly) Adams-Bowers, Vinton, IA and Craig (Melissa) Bowers, Armour, SD, Step Daughter, Lindsey Strong, O’Neill, NE, sister, Karen Havranek, Spencer, NE, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother in-law.
