Obituary of James Thomas Tammeus

   James Tammeus, age 84, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Lake Andes Senior Living in Lake Andes, South Dakota. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

   James Thomas Tammeus was born August 13, 1937 to Joe and Mattie Tammeus in Wilmont, Minnesota. Jim graduated from Brewster Minnesota High School in 1955. He went on to attend Macalester College, then transferred to the University of Minnesota and graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine in 1963. On March 29, 1958 Jim married Leah Bunting in Westbrook. Jim worked as a veterinarian and had practices in Mitchell, South Dakota and Bristow, Iowa. Following Leah’s death Jim married Arla Rypkema. James and Arla lived in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.

   Jim is survived by his wife Arla; children: Leslie (Jim) Carney of Columbus, Nebraska and Dane (Lori) Tammeus of Cottonwood, Minnesota; grandchildren: Grant Keller, Kirsten Keller, Katie Tammeus, and Emma Tammeus. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Leah Tammeus, daughter Elisa Tammeus, and brother Lawrence Tammeus.
