Obituary of Roger W. Koster

   Armour - Roger W. Koster, 81, died at Avantara Nursing Home in Armour on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Funeral service will be Friday, August 13, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Armour Community Church in Armour with burial following in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour. Visitation will be Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 5 - 7 PM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

   Roger W. Koster was born to Clarence and Gladys (Boehmer) Koster on the family farm near Dimock, SD on March 15, 1940. He attended school in Parkston, SD. He moved to Armour, SD and started working as a mechanic for Wudel Chevrolet. He married Janis Ymker on September 3, 1966 in Armour. After Nolz Chevrolet bought out Wudel Chevrolet, Roger continued working there until 1982 when he opened his own mechanic shop which he operated until 1989. He worked at Petro Steel near Corsica until retiring in 2002. He enjoyed working and tinkering on anything automotive or with an engine, cooking, canning, fishing and camping. He moved to Avantara Nursing home in Armour on April 8, 2017 where he died at the age of 81. 

   He is survived by 4 sons, Dean (Bonnie) Koster of Armour, SD, Dave Koster of Stanhope, IA, Donn (Jennifer) Koster of Armour, SD, and Darren (Special Friend, Tammy Fleming) Koster of Armour, SD, 9 grandchildren, Shane Koster, Erica Koster, Preston Koster, Keslee (Tim) Fuerst, Logan Koster, Gage Koster, Halley Koster, Koda Koster and Ashton Koster, 3 great-grandchildren, Warren Koster, Theo Koster and Chloe Fuerst, 2 brothers, Dennis Koster of Klamath Falls, OR and Gary Koster of Parkston, SD, and sister, Linda (Randy) Kamp of Edmond, OK. 

   He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane Breck.
