Obituary of Loretta M. Pavel

   Geddes - Loretta M. Pavel, 93, died at Avera Platte Health Care Center in Platte on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Funeral service will be Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Geddes with burial following in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Geddes. Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Geddes with a wake service at 7:30 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.
   Loretta M. Pavel was born on April 27, 1923 to John and Cathryn (Tierschel) Oberbroekling on the family farm near Geddes, SD. She attended St. Ann's Catholic School in Geddes and graduated from Geddes High School in 1941. After high school, she was employed at the ASCS Office in Lake Andes, SD. She then married James E. Pavel on May 26, 1952 in Geddes, SD. They lived on a farm near Geddes in Rhoda Township and moved into Geddes in 1987. James died on January 30, 1988. Loretta was the Dean of St. Ann's CCD Program for over 30 years and always enjoyed devoting her time to help prepare and instruct the many kids with their catholic journey. She also enjoyed baby-sitting her first grandkids, "The VanderPol's", playing a mean game of Pitch with the Chicago hunters, creating crafts, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and Altar Society and American Legion Auxiliary. She moved to Platte Care Center in August of 2014. Loretta died at Platte Health Center in Platte on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the age of 93.
   Loretta is survived by her son, Ronald (Julie) Pavel of Geddes, SD, and 3 grandchildren, Jordan Pavel of Geddes, SD, Christin Pavel of Rapid City, SD, and Makayla Pavel of Spearfish, SD.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.
