Parkston – Phyllis Josephine Stadlman, 90, went to her heavenly home Friday, September 11 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, September 15 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Monday, September 14 from 6 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Due to Covid-19 concerns, masks will be required. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Phyllis was born June 13, 1930 to Henry and Josephine (Schmidt) Sommer at Parkston. She attended country school near their family's farm through the 8th grade and graduated from Parkston High School in 1948. After graduating, she worked as a legal secretary for the Horstman Law office. She was united in marriage to Francis Stadlman on November 22, 1949 in Parkston. The couple made their home on a farm near Parkston where they also had chickens for egg laying. After retiring and moving into Parkston in 1994, Phyllis worked at the Senior Citizen's Center, Boom's Restaurant and Schuver's Café. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was an active in the Altar Society and taught CCD. She was a 50+ year member of the Catholic Daughters, Catholic Aid and Farmers Union. She was also a member of the Quilting Guild and Extension Club, was a volunteer for the blood drive, and delivered Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling and she and Frank visited all 50 states and several different countries.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 6 children: Gary (Mary) Stadlman of Ethan; Allan (Kelli) Stadlman of LaPorte, CO; Joanne (Randy) Heibult of Canton; Marilyn (Loren) Halgerson of Madison; Duane (Pam) Stadlman of Parkston; and Cheryl (Paul Vincent) Stadlman of Tempe, AZ; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Anita Sommer and Joan Sommer, both of Mitchell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; a sister, Lorraine Fischer; and 2 brothers, James and Ronald.
