Armour - Mary Freidel-Mimmack, 82, died at Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Armour on Friday, April 21, 2017. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour with burial following in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour. Visitation will be Monday, April 24, 2017 from 5 - 7 PM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour with a wake service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour. Mary Freidel Mimmack was born on November 30, 1934 in Armour, SD to Dice and Arietta (Shearer) Hawley. She graduated in 1952 from Armour High School and went on to attend Presentation School of Nursing through St. Joseph Hospital in Mitchell, SD. She graduated in 1955 and went on to practice her nursing profession in several different hospitals. She spent the last 29 years of her career as Director of Nursing at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Armour. Mary married Robert Freidel on September 22, 1955 in Ethan, SD and 9 children were born to this union. Bob went to his heavenly home on February 24, 1976. Mary re-married R. Charles Mimmack on June 2, 1979. Mary was very passionate about helping others and volunteered in the community of Armour in a variety of ways. She assisted with Meals on Wheels, visited others in hospice care, sold tickets at the local theater, and was a regular at the Senior Citizens Center. Mary often transported others to and from a range of medical appointments. Mary was an active member of VFW Auxiliary, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Altar Society, and served on the Carnegie Library Board. She enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together and reading. Her family was her passion and spending time with them was a priority. She was a regular spectator in the stands at sporting events, school concerts and recitals. Between that and volunteering, she stayed very busy. Mary died at Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Armour on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the age of 82. She is survived by her husband, Charles Mimmack; children: Dawn Freidel of Corsica, SD; Doug (Nancy) Freidel of Corsica, SD; Cindy (Dave) Balt of Sioux Falls, SD; Brad (Dee) Freidel of Moberly, MO; Dan (Brenda) Freidel of New London/Spicer, MN; John (Laurie) Mimmack of Sioux Falls, SD; Bill (Tracy) Freidel of Rapid City, SD; Lisa Mimmack of Sioux Falls, SD; Dan (Connie) Mimmack of Baltimore, MD; Deb Gee of Baltimore, MD; Pat Freidel of Mitchell, SD; and Rita (Jamie) Rexwinkel of Corsica, SD; daughter-in-law, Joni Freidel of Vermillion, SD; 39 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 siblings: Jolene (George) Johnson of Armour, SD and Bonnie (Jim) Nesson of Badger, SD. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, son, Michael, grandson, Derrick, parents, Dice and Arietta Hawley, sisters, Marlene Probst and Shirley Koisti, and brothers, Leroy and Wayne Hawley.
