Things that I remember about Uncle Darvin.
The Wisconsin Badgers sweatshirt, riding from Canby, MN to Tripp for Christmas, I could barely see over the dash when sitting in the backseat. Darvin's schnauzer Shadow, I think we all tormented that poor dog the first year he brought him back to Tripp for Christmas. Shadow hated it when you would slap your hands on the floor. The poor dog would go nuts. Think Dad finally spanked me to make me stop tormenting Shadow. Darvin's doberman and the mouse traps in the stuffed animals so the dog wouldn't destroy them. Staying at Darvin's house on the way to Sioux Falls and going to the bowling alley for breakfast, I think an omelet toast and coffee came to $2.75, We laughed because it was cheaper to eat at the bowling alley than it was to buy food at the grocery store, cook, clean up the mess and use the electricity at his house. I believe that was the last time I saw Darvin before his memory failed. I have to smile thinking of Darvin and Dad farming a sweet piece of ground on the other side. I am guessing they have better weather and get rain when the crops need watering. Until we meet again. Love you

I always looked forward to seeing Uncle Darvin when he would return to Tripp from Madison, WI where he was teaching math.
I usually only got to see him twice a year ,,,,at Christmas & in the summer vacation time, Once he retired & built his home between Tripp & his brother Jerry's home & farm it was easier to see him. Unfortunately for our visits... by then I had my own family to care for & spend holiday time with so once again I didn't see him as much except for weddings & funerals. I will always remember him
as a very kind & intelligent person. He will be missed & remembered. Steve Albrecht Rapid City, SD
