Obituary of Joan Phyllis Roth

   Joan Phyllis Roth, 86, passed away at Avera Hospital in Parkston, SD on June 28, 2019 after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral service will be Monday, July 1, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Dimock with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 5 - 7 PM at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Dimock with a wake service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

   Joan was born on September 18, 1932 to Florence (Rademacher) and Bernard Gard. She married Willard (Dub) Roth on March 27, 1951 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston, SD. The couple farmed with their family south of Dimock for many years until they retired to Parkston in 1994.

   Joan loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. She was known as the Gin Rummy Queen and the Parkston Mudcat’s number one fan. Joan was an avid quilter and made many quilts for family and friends.

   Joan was a member of the Catholic Daughters for 63 years. She volunteered her time at the hospital and Bormann Manor.

   Joan is survived by her children, Vera (Gary) Plumb of Ketchikan, AK, Mona (Patrick) Rose of Owatonna, MN, Paula (George Clogston) Ansley of Houston, TX, Don Roth of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert (Peggy) of Sioux Falls, SD, David (Kelly) of Parkston, SD, Mike (Jenne) of Dimock, SD, Alan (Mary) of Marshall, MN, Tim (Brenda) of McComb, MS, Karla (Glenn) Thuringer of Worthington, MN. Her grandchildren, Jared Plumb, John Rose, Emily Winter, Joseph Rose, Micayla Didiliscu, Rachel Welch, Morgan Roth, Robert Fitzler, Jill Overby, Sam Schlaffman, Nick Schlaffman, Riley Roth, Courtney Roth, Connor Roth, Jennifer Thaler, Keeley Price, Savannah Dibble, Samantha Brakke, Logan Thuringer, Emma Thuringer, Kara Thuringer, 21 great-grandchildren, brothers, John (Deb) Gard, Robert (Marlene) Gard, and sisters-in-law, Jean Roth and Sister Naomi Roth.
 

   She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two infant great-grand-children.
