Myrtle Scott, 96, went to her heavenly home Saturday, April 27 at the Lake Andes Healthcare Center in Lake Andes.  A private, family service was held.

Myrtle was born July 26, 1922 to Mikkel and Lena (Johnson) Standy on a farm near Geddes, SD.  She attended country school near the farm through the 8th grade and graduated from Geddes High School in 1940.  She received her teaching certificate from Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD.  She taught at her home school, Moore #6, for 2 terms.  She was united in marriage to Lee Scott on August 14, 1943 in Sioux Falls, SD.  They moved to a farm near Geddes that had been homesteaded by Lee's grandfather, John Scott.  They lived on this farm for 63 years.  Lee died on October 5, 2006.   Myrtle remained on the family farm until 2014 when she entered the Twilight Vista Assisted Living in Platte, SD. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.  She enjoyed having a flower garden every summer and making lefsa for the family for the holidays and cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed her pets and being outdoors but her greatest joys came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In 2016, Myrtle moved into the Lake Andes Healthcare Center in Lake Andes, SD where she lived until the time of her passing on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the age of 96.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, David (Becky) Scott of Geddes; a grandson, Derrick Scott of Geddes; 2 granddaughters: Barbara (Jon) Giles of Sioux Falls, SD and Cherilyn (Steve) Manowski of Blaine, MN; 7 great-grandchildren:  Noah, Alyssa, Catelyn and Adam Giles of Sioux Falls and Kaleb, Gavyn and Greyson Manowski of Blaine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; 6 brothers, Gilbert, Joseph, Martin, Edwin, Elmer and Oscar; and 5 sisters, Inga, Ida, Gena, Palma and Selma.

Please direct memorials to the Alzheimers Association of South Dakota; 4304 S Technology Dr.; Sioux Falls, SD 57106.
