I was saddened to see that Larry passed away, but thoughts of him bring happiness. He was the Board Chairman when I served as Administrator at Douglas County Memorial Hospital from 1985 to 1989. He was a joy to work with during some very difficult times. I appreciated his candor and leadership. May you be blessed with the wonderful memories that you carry of him, as well. Please give Harriet my deepest sympathy and best wishes.

I’ve counted Larry’s son Jeff as a long-distance friend for years. Though I’ve never met Jeff’s parents, they have been recurring presence in our exchanges, and Jeff’s warmth for his folks has shone through in the updates he’s shared about them. Larry’s interest in baseball was clearly an enthusiasm he shared, not just with Jeff, but with his entire community in Delmont. Jeff has shared that enthusiasm with many more of us around the country. I’ll remember the entire Adel family in my prayers. May Larry’s memory live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and all those who knew his presence from his voice drifting across the diamond on beautiful summer evenings.

My sincere sympathy to the Adel family. My connections go back many years when I was in high school and younger. The Adels were very active Methodist Church members in Delmont. That was also our home church.
One memory that sticks in my mind is Larry came out to our farm to encourage my twin sister and I to be in the church Christmas program because he knew we would do a good job memorizing our parts! And we did. That meant a lot to us.
