Obituary of Dollie J. Rolston
Lake Andes - Dollie J. Rolston, 80, died at Lake Andes Healthcare Center in Lake Andes on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Funeral service will be Friday, April 5, 2019 at 10:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Andes with burial following in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery in Geddes. Visitation will be Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 6 - 8 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Andes with and Eastern Star service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes.
Dollie was born on November 7, 1938 to Paul and Dorothy (Rutherford) Hageman near Pierre, SD. She went to school in Pierre, SD. She started working at a very young age at the D & E Café in Pierre.
On September 8, 1956 Dollie married Marvin C Rolston. They were blessed with five children. When the children were young, she would take in ironing and work as a waitress to help provide for the family.
Dollie, also managed the Fort Randall Bait Shop in Pickstown, SD and Jones Grocery Store in Lake Andes.
One of her greatest joys was babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dollie babysat for many children in the community and was known by many names, GG, Grandma Dollie were some of her favorites. Many of the children in the area called her Grandma Dollie, (little kids and big kids)! Over the years Dollie and Marvin had a number of foster children. They both had a big heart and loved to help children.
Dollie also enjoyed trail rides, embroidery/sewing, fishing, gardening, reading a good book.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and taught Sunday School and was also a youth group leader. Dollie also belonged to Eastern Star, Geddes Saddle Club, Legion Auxiliary, Brownie & Girl Scout Leader, 4-H, Charles Mix Electric Board and Andes Central Band.
Dollie is survived by her children, Paul (Rita) Rolston, Yankton, SD, David (Willy) Rolston, Missoula, MT, Cleo (Joe) Heenan, Rapid City, SD, Sandy (Mike) Rolston, Lake Andes, SD, Laurie (Mike) Sapp, Belle Fouche, SD, Sister Donna Rankin, Pierre, SD, Ronald Hageman, Corona, CA, 14 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, brothers and sisters.
