Mitchell – Norbert G. Fritza, 88, went to his heavenly home Monday, October 29 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell.  Funeral mass will be Friday, November 2 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston.  Visitation will be Thursday, November 1 from 5 to 7 pm with a Rosary service at 6:00 pm in the Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Norbert was born July 5, 1930 to Clemens J. and Mary (Grossman) Fritza in Parkston, SD.  He attended and graduated from Parkston High School in 1948.  He entered the United States Army and served his country until being honorably discharged.  He was united in marriage to Joan Schlumpberger on May 14, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston.  He made his living on their dairy farm selling Grade A milk until they retired in 1995.  In 2004, they moved off the farm and into Parkston and in 2015 moved to Mitchell, SD.  Norbert was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus as well as being a member of the American Legion.  He served on the Susquehanna Township Board, Minnesota Valley Breeders Board, FHA Board and was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish Council.  He loved working in his shop, playing cards, putting puzzles together, fishing, ballroom dancing and the Corn Palace Polka Club.  He was very fun loving and enjoyed teasing others.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Joan of Mitchell; 4 daughters:  Paulette (Steve) Hohn of Parkston; Kay (Todd) Long of Mitchell; Karen (Bob) VanZee of Parkston; and Jarilyn (James) Mahoney of Parkston; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie (Ervin) Roemen of Dell Rapids, SD; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy John; and 2 brothers, Leo and Joseph.
