Obituary of Ramona Van Zee

   Corsica - Ramona Van Zee, 85, died at Good Samaritan Society in Corsica on Thursday, October 11, 2018. Funeral service will be Monday, October 15, 2018 at 10:30 AM at The Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Corsica with burial following at Graceland Cemetery in Corsica. There will be viewing an hour prior to the funeral service at church.

   Ramona Van Zee was born on  November 24, 1932 to Herman and Ardeth (Goemaat) De Vries in Harrison, SD. She graduated from Corsica High School in 1950. She obtained her teaching certificate from Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD and taught in rural school for 5 years. On September 4, 1953, she married Sylvan Van Zee. They spend one and half years at Travis Air Force Base in California. They moved to Corsica where they purchased Noteboom’s Gas Station, which they operated for 6 years. Ramona became a medical aid at Pleasant View Nursing Home where she was employed for 40 years. Her goal was to serve her Lord by sharing that they could experience that personal relationship with Him, with peace, love and joy. The residents grew very close to her as she visited and prayed with them. She attended the Lighthouse Church in Corsica and enjoyed attending many Bible studies, which made her faith grow. She prayed for  her grandchildren every day as she loved them very much. Ramona will be greatly missed and never forgotten by many. 
 

   Grateful for having shared her life is her husband, Sylvan Van Zee of Corsica, SD, 2 sons, Gary (Carol) Van Zee and Glen (Becky) Van Zee, Wanda Veurink, grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Adam, Levi, Ceslie, and Chance, great-grandchildren, brother, Robert (Clarice) DeVries, brother-in-law, Allen  (Merle) Van Zee, and sister-in-law, Betty Vanden Bos.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter-in-law, Shirley Van Zee, brother, Kenny (Charlotte) DeVries.
