Obituary of James "Jack" Gardner

   Stickney - James "Jack" Gardner, 81, passed away on June 27, 2018 at his home near Stickney. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney with burial following in Silver Ridge Cemetery in Stickney. Visitation will be Friday, June 29, 2018 from 5 - 7 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney.

   James "Jack" Gardner was born on February 17, 1937 to Henry and Helen (Westendorf) Gardner. He graduated from Stickney High School, then joined the U.S. Army for 2 years. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to the family farm where he helped and also worked construction with his uncle. He eventually took over the family farm. Jack married Sharon DeBoer on September 4, 1970 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney. To this union, 3 children were born, Kristie, Kathy, and Jason. Jack enjoyed sports, especially baseball and bowling. He was a member of the American Legion in Stickney and St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served on the council. He also served on the Crystal Lake Township Board. He enjoyed spending time with grandkids, playing cards, and visiting with neighbors. Jack passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at his home near Stickney at the age of 81.

   He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Sharon, daughter, Kristie (Travis) Clark and granddaughters, Kaylee, Kassidy, and Kyanna, daughter, Kathy, son, Jason and granddaughter, Alexis, and sister, Betty Kristensen.

   Preceding him in death were his parents, sister, Shirley Scheetz, Brother-in-law, Art Scheetz, brother-in-law, Raymond Kristensen, and sister-in-law, Mickey DeBoer.
