Obituary of Agnes Ann Pavlin
Parkston – Agnes Ann Pavlin, 83, went to her heavenly home Friday, June 22 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston. Funeral mass will be Wednesday, June 27 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.
Agnes was born May 3, 1935 to John and Catherine (Mengenhausen) Bigge in Armour, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Armour and attended country school through the 8th grade. After graduation, she stayed home and helped her parents on the farm. She married Rudolph Janish on May 2, 1959 in Parkston. They lived and farmed southwest of Parkston. During this time, Agnes worked at the Parkston Bakery. After Rudy's death in a car accident, she met James Pavlin and was united in marriage on April 1, 1989 in Mitchell, SD. She worked for a short time in Mitchell at Allen's Restaurant and then worked for several years at the Bormann Manor nursing home and St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston. She was member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary, and Farmers Union where she was a youth leader for 40 years. She enjoyed arts and crafts, flowers and gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, and all her collections.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, James of Parkston; 3 children: Patrick Janish of Parkston; Kathy (Doug) Kokesh of Wagner; and Mary (Darren) Meeks of Rapid City, SD; 8 grandchildren: Richard Kokesh, Kristi (Heath) Gumb, Kimberly (Tyler) Pepper, Robert (Madison) Kokesh, Jessica Meeks, Kenzie Meeks, Kaleigh Meeks, and Leigha Meeks; 3 great-grandchildren: Logan, Liam and Lincoln; 3 sisters: Helen Bigge of Armour, SD; Mary Peters of White Lake, SD and Frances Bigge of Armour, SD; and a sister-in-law, Frances Gerlach.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Rudolph Janish, a son, Robert Janish; a sister, Bertha Rays; 2 brothers, George in infancy and Lawrence Bigge and her best friend Elaine Zirpel.
